Cumbernauld College Computing students have swept the board in Scottish and UK competitions proving that computing education at Cumbernauld College is among the best in the country. Daniel Samson (22) and Jamie Sharkey (19) achieved first and second place in the ICT Networking Microsoft Competition against 6 other competitors from 4 other Scottish colleges. On top of this, when the results from all the UK finals were compiled to create an over all top three, Daniel found himself with the Bronze Medal. The competition is one of many WorldSkills UK competitons held to encourage young people and adults to excel in their vocational skill area. Their main aim is to help raise the standards of training and performance at work by strengthening the contribution of skills competitions to the UK economy. Winners across all vocational areas will be chosen to compete in WorldSkills in London in 2011. |
